Fran started her career in the
law as Associate to His Honour Justice Buchanan, in the Court
of Appeal of Victoria. At the Court, she was exposed to a wide
range of cases and developed a particular interest in common
law and criminal law.
Fran completed her articles at Kenna Croxford & Co and
stayed on at that firm for a further two years as a solicitor.
While at Kenna Croxford the majority of her work was in criminal
matters, including preparation of and running Magistrates'
Court matters, and County Court matters such as sexual offences,
white collar crime, drug matters and other indictable crimes.
In addition she was involved with a wide range of Intervention
Order applications, on behalf of both applicants and defendants,
and Victims of Crime Assistance applications. She also prepared
and instructed in a number of Inquests, several regarding
deaths in custody.
In the civil sphere, she ran or assisted in matters such
as personal injury claims, commercial contract disputes, building
disputes, debt recovery and bankruptcy.
Fran then moved on to work at TAC Law, and then Mills Oakley.
Over the next two years at those firms she practised in WorkCover.
As a litigator at each firm she had conduct of general WorkCover
benefits matters, serious injury applications, common law
matters and recoveries claims.
