N.B. Marcus has accepted a two year role with Victoria Legal Aid commencing August 2010
Marcus has practised in criminal law since his admission
in 1997, working in private criminal law firms, the Victorian
Aboriginal Legal Service and Victoria Legal Aid, before coming
to the Victorian Bar in 2002. During his experience as a solicitor
Marcus instructed in County and Supreme Court trials, as well
as appearing in a wide range of criminal matters.
Marcus read with Mark Gamble (now County Court Judge). Since
signing the Bar roll Marcus has conducted high-level criminal
work, for both the Crown and defence, including:
* Full Court appeals and s.582 Crimes Act applications in
the Court of Appeal
* Supreme Court trials, as junior counsel
* County Court trials, pleas and appeals, including equivalent
interstate matters
* Magistrates Court committals, pleas, bail applications
and other matters.
* Coronial inquests
* Disciplinary boards
* Appearing for examinees during compulsory examinations
Marcus' practise has covered corporate crime, immigration
and other administrative law questions.
