Richard was admitted to practice in 1997. From 1998 to 2002
he worked as a criminal lawyer for the Victorian Aboriginal
Legal Service. He then worked as Senior Lecturer in Law at
Deakin University and taught evidence and criminal law. During
this time he was also a consultant solicitor advocate for
the law firm Doogue & O'Brien.
Richard is the co-author of Australian Sentencing: Principles
and Practice (Cambridge University Press, 2007)
